Network Engineer develops and deploys plans and designs of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Being a Network Engineer defines monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Troubleshoots network issues and develops appropriate solutions, resources, and deployment processes. Additionally, Network Engineer keeps informed of the latest technologies to enhance knowledge of networking hardware, software, and best practices. May be certified in vendor-specific products. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Engineer work is closely managed. THE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for an experienced network engineer with a strong background in Cisco and Juniper switches, as well as expertise in firewalls. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network architecture and design, as well as experience implementing and maintaining complex networks.
Key responsibilities: Network Engineer- Design, implement and maintain network infrastructure
- Troubleshoot network issues and provide solutions
- Configure Cisco and Juniper switches
- Implement and maintain firewalls
- Develop and maintain network documentation
- Travel to all manufacturing sites. 50-60%
NOTE: Sponsorship is not available for this position and it is located in Decatur, IL
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network architecture and design, as well as experience implementing and maintaining complex networks- 3 years of experience in network engineering
- Strong knowledge of Cisco and Juniper switches
- Experience with firewalls (preferably Cisco ASA or Juniper SRX)
- Strong understanding of network protocols and network security
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work in a plant environment if needed.
