Network Engineering Director plans, designs, and develops all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Director directs network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Additionally, Network Engineering Director keeps abreast with the latest technologies and best practices and utilizes vendors and providers to provide additional resources to support networks. Usually is certified and has deep knowledge of vendor-specific products. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Network Engineering Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Network Engineering Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     HEI is a full-service civil engineering, surveying, environmental and technology solutions consulting firm with multiple locations throughout the Midwest. As a Civil Engineering Technician at HEI, you will be involved with practical on-the-job projects, spending time outdoors on construction phase activities as well as assisting with surveys when needed.

    Job Description

    As an entry level Civil Technician, we will train you for the day-to-day activities to include:

    • Drive a company vehicle to construction civil engineering job sites and document civil engineering construction activities into a daily log.
    • Review permit applications for rule compliance.
    • Assist Civil Engineers with plan specifications and estimates.
    • Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
      • Collect topographic survey data using survey instruments.
      • Assist Civil Engineers in setting construction stakes for construction projects.
    • Communicate with construction contractors and the project manager regarding the construction activities.

    Qualifications

    • High school graduate with post-secondary education a plus.
    • General knowledge of construction
    • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints and maps.
    • Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
    • Above average math and communication skills.
    • Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.
