Network Engineering Director plans, designs, and develops all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Director directs network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Additionally, Network Engineering Director keeps abreast with the latest technologies and best practices and utilizes vendors and providers to provide additional resources to support networks. Usually is certified and has deep knowledge of vendor-specific products. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Network Engineering Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Network Engineering Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     How will you make an impact?

    The Manufacturing Engineering Director will operate within the organizational structure to provide direction and management oversight to Business and Capital Engineering, Qualification, New Capabilities (Product and Process), NPI, ETO, Automation, Facilities and Maintenance activities. In addition to leading the development and implementation of technical support strategies, the person in this role is on the Operations leadership team and interacts with the other directors and business VP/ GM's to realize complimentary overall site strategies that meet the short-term tactical needs and longer-term ambitions of the business. Additionally, extensive customer interaction is required related to business development, proposals/ opportunities, and audits for quality, and regulatory compliance.

    • Set tactical and strategic policy, leadership and direction in engineering, processes and systems, in compliance with SOP's, GAP's, cGMP's and other site procedures.
    • Ensures transformational leadership of people to implement change, understand consequences and obtain commitment through coaching, training and clear objective setting to meet the site's short-term needs and long-term ambition.
    • Lead the Site Master Planning to assure site can achieve STRAP this includes utility/facility/equipment planning.
    • Responsible for site Capital planning in a 5-year view and execution. Capital in excess of $25m per year investment in the site.
    • Create, socialize and deliver on business cases for growth/sustainment/compliance/productivity projects.
    • Ensures that all parties interacting with technical support are aligned in shared tactical & strategic approaches. Develops capital and expense budgets.
    • Ownership of the site co-op program, a Thermo Fisher standard methodology.
    • Recommends capital and expense items for landlord capital and expense budgets.
    • Directs and manages the technical aspects (process, equipment, automation, qualification, and safety programs, process maintenance, and process and project engineering functions) supporting the business strategy.
    • Other duties as needed.


    How will you get here?

    Education:
    • Minimum required education: Bachelor's of Science in Engineering or related technical field of study


    Experience:
    • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a technical function role in relevant field
    • At least 2 years of people management experience.
    • BioProduction manufacturing experience preferred.
