Network Engineering Director plans, designs, and develops all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Director directs network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Additionally, Network Engineering Director keeps abreast with the latest technologies and best practices and utilizes vendors and providers to provide additional resources to support networks. Usually is certified and has deep knowledge of vendor-specific products. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Network Engineering Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Network Engineering Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. procurement process.
o NMCI Enterprise Tools (NET)
o NMCI Service Manager Tools
o NMCI eMarketplace Site Collection
o NMCI Requirements to Award Process Tool (RAPT)
o Navy Command Hierarchy Structure
o Navy Shipment Process
o Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet (CPF) Outside Continental United
States(OCONUS) Navy Enterprise Networks (ONE-NET) procurement process
o Navy Information Technology Approval Systems (NAV-ITAS) process and
procedures.
o Defense Logistics Agency(DLA) Multi-Function Device (MFD) procurement
and sustainment process and procedures.
o IT Asset Management
o Customer Service as well as written as oral communications skills
o Microsoft Office Suite
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, or an equivalent bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university or five (5)
years of experience working for the Department of Navy (DoN) supporting Information Technology (IT) systems such as but not limited to Navy Marine Corp Intranet (NMCI).
Skills and Abilities:
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, the Ashore Enterprise Services Network Support may have one of the following certifications to comply with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570.01-M IAT Level II Baseline Certification requirements: CCNA Security, CySA , GICSP,
GSEC, Security CE, SSCP.
