Network Engineering Manager manages and implements the plans, designs, and development of all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Manager conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Provide leadership and oversight to the broadcast network engineering team. Support our expansion from AES67 to SMPTE 2110 media standards as well as transition from on-prem data centers to the cloud using Infrastructure as Code. What you’ll do:
Lead and mentor a small team of highly technical engineers, foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation to drive operational excellence.
Possess deep knowledge of broadcast network technologies, including but not limited to AES67 and SMPTE 2110 media standards in addition to traditional TCP/IP protocols and LAN/WAN topologies.
Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for the broadcast network engineering team, aligning with the organizations media content engineering broader goals and the evolving landscape of the broadcast industry.
Emphasize the importance of comprehensive and clear documentation, ensuring that all processes, configurations, and architectures are well documented for both current operations and future reference.
Oversee the shift from on-premises data centers to cloud infrastructures, leveraging the principles of Infrastructure as Code for efficient and scalable deployments.
Regularly review and monitor the performance, observability, and telemetry of broadcast networks, especially media flows, implementing optimizations and solutions as needed to meet the ever-growing needs of the company.
Work closely with colleagues in media content engineering, broadcast operations, and vendors to ensure that the broadcast network aligns with organizations needs and standards.
What you’ll need
Minimum Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
M.S. in Broadcast Engineering or Engineering is desired
10 years in broadcast engineering, network engineering or operations, or related field
3 years experience managing Network teams
Comprehensive knowledge of IP networks, video over IP, multicast, and other transmission technologies. Familiarity with Arista switching and Juniper routing is essential
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers. Experience in setting performance goals, conducting reviews, and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous learning
Experience in ensuring network security and familiarity with best practices. Knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls is preferred
Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to communicate technical complexities effectively to both the engineering team and non-technical stakeholders
Expertise in overseeing large-scale projects from inception to completion, ensuring they stay on track and within budget. Ability to delegate and oversee tasks among the engineering team. Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA methodologies is preferred
Knowledge of virtualization architectures and network attached storage is preferred
The following industry certifications highly desired: CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, JNCIE, Arista ACE or equivalent certifications

Technical Skills:
Expert level knowledge of IP routing, particularly BGP, OSPF, and an understanding of the broadcast ecosystem -Arista EVPN/VXLAN data center network topologies, Arista CloudVision and Telemetry, and/or other network monitoring applications, Managing Telecom/WAN circuit contracts with focus on migrating to 100/400G backbones, Palo Alto NGFW physical and virtual, IP Multicast – dense mode, sparse mode (RPs/BSRs) and source specific multicast across multiple sites
Experience with SMPTE 2110 media standards - IEEE 1588 standard PTP, IP-PIM, IGMP, Anycast-RP, MSDP
Experience with Linux, macOS, and Windows, especially their networking stacks up to Layer 4
Experience with RCS radio automation software such as Zetta is big plus
Experience with Lawo audio consoles is a big plus
At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $220,000 to $230,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
