Network Engineering Manager manages and implements the plans, designs, and development of all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Manager conducts network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies. Develops monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Additionally, Network Engineering Manager keeps abreast with the latest technologies and best practices and utilizes vendors and providers to provide additional resources to support networks. May be certified or has deep knowledge of vendor-specific products. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Network Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Network Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Osborn Engineering is seeking a Department Manager with 10 years of experience to manage the Pittsburgh Electrical Engineering group. This position will report to the Director of Electrical Engineering. The ideal candidate would have team and client management experience in a consulting engineering environment. 

     

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Work with Project Managers throughout the company to provide appropriate resources to successfully execute projects.
    • Establish discipline specific work plans and estimates to complete for department staff assigned projects 
    • Oversee the production of work product consistent with client requirements and Osborn standards.
    • Supervise efficient execution of projects and staff to meet the performance metrics and goals of the department.
    • Manage expectations and communications with clients for projects providing engineering and technical support.
    • Execute Osborn’s QA/QC process for the Electrical discipline on projects.
    • Maintain backlogs and manpower forecasts to ensure proper staffing levels and department utilization.
    • Perform staff resource management and annual reviews including Timesheet and Expense report approvals.
    • Assist Human Resources on recruitment and training efforts.
    • Conduct business development activities, participating in various trade organizations, and preparing or assisting with presentations.

     

    Job Requirements/Qualifications:

    • 10 Years’ experience in electrical design and project management in consulting engineering
    • Working knowledge of design and analysis software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, Easypower. 
    • Strong knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), State Energy Code, NFPA guidelines, and FGI Guidelines.
    • Experience with electrical system studies such as short circuit, over-current device coordination, and Arc Flash Hazard analysis per NFPA 70E.
    • Strong ability to instruct staff in project management, project communications, and client management
    • Proficient knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
    • Strong ability to manage several project teams concurrently.
    • Strong ability to promote department staff career growth, technically and professionally.
    • Experience in designing Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Public Sector, Industrial, Education, and/or Institutional projects.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Preferred.
    • PE License Preferred.
