Network Operations Director manages the daily operations of the organization's network infrastructure, including hardware, software, security, and services, to ensure it meets the organization's performance objectives. Implements policies and procedures that ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, minimize downtime, and support efficient operations. Being a Network Operations Director provides network administrators and technicians with training in the best practices and technologies. Ensures logging and documentation of daily network operations incidents and changes. Additionally, Network Operations Director leads troubleshooting and resolution of routine network issues and conducts root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrences and identify potential technological, training, or process improvements. Automates routine tasks using scripting or basic programs. Advises on budget expenditures to ensure required tools and equipment are procured and maintained. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or it. Typically reports to a director. The Network Operations Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Network Operations Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • POSITION SUMMARY:

    As the Director of Network Planning and GIS, you will play a crucial role in the expansion and optimization of our restaurant network. You will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, development, and implementation of our network expansion initiatives, utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to analyze and optimize site selection, market penetration, and operational efficiency.

     

    KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    Network Planning:

    • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive network expansion strategy to support the company's growth objectives.
    • Conduct market research, demographic analysis, and competitive benchmarking to identify new market opportunities and target locations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including real estate, finance, and operations to assess site feasibility, negotiate leases, and secure approvals for new restaurant locations.

    Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Management:

    • Utilize GIS software and spatial analysis techniques to visualize and analyze geographical data related to site selection, market dynamics, and customer demographics.
    • Maintain and update GIS databases, maps, and models to support decision-making processes and provide insights into network performance.
    • Develop customized mapping solutions and data visualization tools to enhance understanding and communication of network planning strategies.

    Performance Monitoring and Optimization:

    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to network performance, including sales, foot traffic, and market share.
    • Identify opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvement within the existing restaurant network, such as relocation or resizing of underperforming locations.
    • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness and accuracy of network planning processes.

    Stakeholder Management:

    • Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, franchisees, landlords, and external partners to facilitate collaboration and alignment on network planning objectives.
    • Communicate regularly with senior management to provide updates on network expansion activities, performance trends, and strategic recommendations.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education – Bachelor's degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

    Experience – Proven experience network planning, site selection, or geographic information systems (GIS) management, preferably within the restaurant or retail industry.

    Skills/Knowledge/Abilities - Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., Sitewise, Esri ArcGIS, QGIS) and data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R) with a strong understanding of spatial analysis techniques. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate insights into actionable recommendations. Strong project management abilities with a track record of successfully leading cross-functional initiatives from conception to implementation. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

     

    Physical Requirements - Ability to lift equipment and cases of product weighing approximately 10-50 lbs. Must be able to speak and hear clearly on the telephone and in person. Must be able to operate a computer, i.e., desktop, laptop, tablet, etc. Ability to travel. Travel time subject to change: approx. 10% of the month.
