Network Operations Manager manages the daily operations of the organization's network infrastructure, including hardware, software, security, and services, to ensure it meets the organization's performance objectives. Implements policies and procedures that ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, minimize downtime, and support efficient operations. Being a Network Operations Manager provides network administrators and technicians with training in the best practices and technologies. Ensures logging and documentation of daily network operations incidents and changes. Additionally, Network Operations Manager leads troubleshooting and resolution of routine network issues and conducts root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrences and identify potential technological, training, or process improvements. Automates routine tasks using scripting or basic programs. Advises on budget expenditures to ensure required tools and equipment are procured and maintained. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Network Operations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Network Operations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Network Operations Manager performs management and administrative duties overseeing all network, telephone, and fiber optic infrastructure, including, but not limited to design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and documentation while ensuring system security and maximizing uptime. Acts as the team lead.

    Examples of Duties

    • Acts as the primary team member responsible for operational management.
    • Designs, installs, configures, and maintains routing and switching equipment, telephony and voicemail systems, firewalls, VPN access, and wireless networks.
    • Manages and coordinates with vendors to plan and successfully complete technology projects.
    • Monitors the work activities of the team. Ensures that the team members are following policies/procedures. Participates in the hiring process and recommends disciplinary action of team members.
    • Assists with the assignment of project tasks and service requests to team members. Represents the team in a variety of meetings.
    • Mentors and provides for the personal growth of individual team members by sharing knowledge, industry standards, technological news, and demonstrating technical concepts.
    • Ensures that established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met.
    • Maintains network hardware inventory.
    • Maintains monitoring/management tools related to the team's area of responsibility.
    • Follows county policies and best practices related to information security; exercises good judgment to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Denton County computer systems and electronic records; supports compliance with CJIS, HIPAA, and other information security regulations; and holds subordinates to the same standards.
    • Displays and reflects the culture, mission, vision, values, and direction of the department; inspires enthusiasm, belief, commitment, and excitement in subordinates.
    • Regular and punctual attendance is required.
    • Performs other related duties as required.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of four years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
    • The position may require various computer or technical-related certifications.
    • Possession of a valid driver's license is required. Must obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of employment.
    • Must not have any Class B misdemeanor or higher convictions or deferred adjudications.
