Network Operations Manager manages the daily operations of the organization's network infrastructure, including hardware, software, security, and services, to ensure it meets the organization's performance objectives. Implements policies and procedures that ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, minimize downtime, and support efficient operations. Being a Network Operations Manager provides network administrators and technicians with training in the best practices and technologies. Ensures logging and documentation of daily network operations incidents and changes. Additionally, Network Operations Manager leads troubleshooting and resolution of routine network issues and conducts root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrences and identify potential technological, training, or process improvements. Automates routine tasks using scripting or basic programs. Advises on budget expenditures to ensure required tools and equipment are procured and maintained. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Network Operations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Network Operations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.     What you get to do in this role:

    ServiceNow is seeking an experienced Network Manager to build a Network team based in India to help maintain the ServiceNow Network infrastructure.  The Networking group of the Global Cloud Services organization architects, builds and operates the network infrastructure that runs our SaaS platform.  It is built on the principles of stability, security, ability to scale, high performance, and cost effectiveness.  As a part of this team you will help deploy, operate, engineer and monitor all aspects of the network.

Understanding the business requirements of the markets and mapping them to technical solutions is key to success in this role. Being an effective and successful people manager is equally important as technical ability.

    • Operate in a rapidly evolving environment, adapting quickly to new information and re-prioritizing as needed. Change is a constant at ServiceNow as we support our rapid growth.
    • Influence decision making of overall network investments through exceptional communication and presentation skills.
    • Help engineers and managers develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles.
    • Assess employee performance frequently, address under-performance, and recognize and promote excellent performance. This includes participation in regular employee assessment checkpoints.
    • Work closely with recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates and onboarding new employees.
    • Develop automated/programmatic response to most commonly experienced network events

    Qualifications

    To be successful in this role you have:

    • 8 years of experience in Network Operations
    • 3 years of experience in managing a globally distributed network engineering organization.
    • A good background in network engineering and a deep understanding of core Internet networking technologies: routing, switching, load-balancing, firewalls, etc.  Juniper/Cisco/Palo Alto/F5s are a plus.
    • Experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management and managing engineers. Maintaining team morale and delivering results are key.
    • Excellent project management skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Capable of technical deep-dives into analyzing and determining the root cause of impacting events. Must be able to drive systemic changes with a view towards site reliability
    • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues to varied audiences including senior management.
    • Ability to engage and effectively communicate with multiple parties during the execution of changes or complex troubleshooting.
    • Perform troubleshooting and resolving network issues in response to incidents.
    • Develop and maintain internal documentation and processes to assist with operating the network infrastructure at scale.
    • Coordinate with external vendors and internal Data Center and Ops teams for ISP incident remediation.
    • Become a member of the Cloud Networking team taking on all proactive elements of networking within Operations. This team is the interface to the SRE team on one side and the Cloud Networking Services engineering team on the other.
    • Ability to own and drive specific tasks or projects as identified by the Network Engineering and Operations teams.
    • Perform ongoing analysis of the data in CMDB and the monitoring systems to ensure hygiene, alert thresholds, and validate alarms are present in the NOC Console.
    • Partner with the Global Network Engineering and Operations teams to plan and execute software code upgrades and device maintenance.

    For positions in California (outside of the Bay Area), we offer a base pay of $142,700 - $249,800, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs (subject to eligibility requirements). Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located, and is subject to change based on work location. For individuals who will be working in the Bay Area, there is a pay enhancement for positions located in that geographical area; please contact your recruiter for additional information.
