    Job Description: 

    Reporting to the CIO, the Director of Network and Telecom Services is responsible for the security, performance, and reliability of the CFNI/CHS IT network and Telecom infrastructure. The Director of Network and Telecom Services will manage all Data Center network maintenance operations and will have management responsibility over the network and telecom services teams. Works closely with decision makers in other departments, as well as the IT department to ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner and to provide excellence over network and telecom service delivery.

    The Director of Network and Telecom Services will ensure quality and responsive services through management and delivery of ongoing preventative maintenance, assessment, and proactive monitoring of network and telecom infrastructure. Provides expert technical guidance and support in concert with the direction and leadership of the CIO. Responsibilities will include the management of staff, coaching mentoring skills and maintaining alignment with HR policies and procedures to ensure the staff maintain uniform standards in production and processes across the Healthcare system.

    • Manages assigned Network and Telecom staff and is responsible for ensuring staff meets customer service excellence as established by the Vice President of IT & CIO. 
    • Manages Network and Telecom teams, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions.  
    • Keeps the CIO abreast of issues affecting performance, project plans and system capacity along with recommendations for corrective action or planning.
    • Responsible for developing annual budgets, meeting financial budget goals, authorizing purchase requisitions and tracking purchases to budget. 
    • Prioritizes and assigns tasks to Network and Telecom staff and ensures they are completed within the required time frames according to the established schedules and priorities. Monitors projects and tasks keeping management informed of status.  Creates project management processes and standardizes these processes across multiple facilities to ensure that all team members follow standard processes.
    • Benchmarks, analyzes, reports on and makes recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT Network and Telecom teams.  Offers technical guidance and enforces standard practices to assist in standardization of IT environments within the organization.  
    • Performs vendor management and reviews IT procurement contracts. 
    • Participates in association with the CIO in the development of IT strategies in relation to network and telecom services.
    • Ensures staff has the knowledge, tools, and skills necessary to perform their job requirements.
    • Performs other duties assigned or as may be required to meet emergency situations.

     

    Required Skills & Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
    • 5-7 years of management experience with a strong focus in Network and Telecom Services
    • Minimum 3-5 years advanced hands-on networking experience
    • Proven ability to perform advanced troubleshooting in a complex network environment
    • Commitment to issue resolution in a 24x7x365 organization
    • Expert knowledge of LAN, WAN, voice and video technologies (e.g., routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, network and routing protocols, SDN, DNS, VoIP and their related traffic patterns).
    • Expert knowledge of staple IT technologies (e.g., operating systems, servers, virtualization, storage, software development, and their related impacts as it pertains to network resources).
    • Extensive knowledge of data network architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols.
    • Experience with cloud technologies for IaaS, PaaS for internal private and external public consumption.
    • Expert knowledge of routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP required
    • Advance Cisco routing and switching experience required
    • Advance Cisco Data Center switching (Nexus, ACI) experience preferred
    • Advance Cisco wireless experience preferred
    • Cisco ISE experience preferred
    • Firewall experience with either Cisco or Palo Alto required
    • Experience with Avaya phone systems
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional Certification preferred
