    JOB SUMMARY

    The Assistant Network Business Analyst is a seasoned, experienced professional focusing on business administration and financial analysis to track billing processes for network infrastructure accounts and licensing for the UCSC campus. This position works collaboratively with manager groups across campus to review, iterate, and implement policy on purchasing and reimbursement for network installation, for both new and existing services. The incumbent manages projects from initiation through completion to coordinate and monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, recharge billing, and equipment, addressing difficult issues as they arise.

    JOB DUTIES

    65% - Financial Analysis
    • Utilize, develop and enhance new and existing financial tracking systems to manage all billable and non-billable time for installations and updates of campus-wide network infrastructure systems. Ensures that all time is tracked and reported accurately.
    • Develops policy in collaboration with the Network Service Manager to create 1-3-5 year roadmaps and budgets for expenses.
    • Reconciles and produces monthly reports related to network operational costs and recharge activities.
    • Implements policy and best practices for modeling and forecasting yearly recharge operations. Evaluate and iterate for efficiencies, gaps and compliance.
    • Submits and tracks purchase requests for hardware orders and software subscriptions as needed.
    • Prepares, presents, and reviews budget reports to share with the ITS Infrastructure and finance teams. Prepares reports and analysis to include summaries of financial transactions and evaluation of current and proposed services. Utilize reporting to inform resolutions and policy recommendations.

    35% - Business Administration
    • Manages technical projects including process framework and methodologies involving departmental or cross-functional teams. Plan, coordinate, and monitor scope, requirements, schedules, budgets, resources, tasks, risks, staff and deliverables.
    • Assists network service manager with vendor oversight.
    • Track and renew a broad scope of hardware and software licenses for network infrastructure equipment that support the UCSC campus. Develops, maintains and conducts analysis of licenses in coordination with the divisional software license coordinator.
    • Ensures that the appropriate internal controls are addressed, maintained, and strengthened to secure University resources.
    • Provides verbal and written communication with all levels of the campus, from students to executive staff related to services.
    • Assists in the implementation, administration, and tracking of lean waste reduction activities within the unit.
