Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Nurse within the Department of Neurology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center serves as a provider supporting the Epilepsy Program and other assigned subspecialty divisions of neurology. Provides direct clinical care in ambulatory setting, prescribes medications, orders necessary testing, and manages medication authorizations and patient follow up.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Provides medical E&M consults and performs approved medical in office procedures under the supervision of attending of oversight.
2. Develops and implements appropriate plan of care.
3. facilitates patient teaching and support programs for patients.
4. Applies evidence and value-based practice protocols and standards of care that include interventions and treatments to achieve desired outcomes. Appropriately consults with attending of oversight for changes in plan of care.
5. Demonstrates effective communication and interdisciplinary skills.
6. Documents effectively in patient charts through HMH EMR system. Follow up on patient correspondences including patient messages, medication refills, and medical concerns.
7. Participates in continuing education and ensures compliance with CME requirements to maintain licensure.
8. Floats to various clinic locations as needed
9. Other duties as assigned
10. Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required
1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
2. MSN with Advanced Practice Nurse credentials
3. Minimum of 5 years of RN/Specialty experience
4. Demonstrates effective communication skills
5. Strong computer skills and experience with EMR
License and Certifications Required:
1. Advanced Practice Nurse License
2. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support Certification
