    Pay: $18.00 - $22.00
    Position Summary: New York Vascular Group is part of a large group of Board-Certified Vascular Surgeons with several locations in the North East. We are seeking a Medical Assistant/Patient Coordinator in the Cornwall, NY location to provide clinical clerical and administrative support in addition to coordinating multiple patient care activities for physician practices. They must ensure efficient and professional operations and a positive patient experience in assigned medical practice(s). Responsible for greeting incoming patients and visitors and relaying incoming telephone calls and messages in a professional manner.

    Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Opens the office at the designated time each day and ensures the readiness of the reception area, and that the front desk activities are fully operational.
    • Answer multi-line telephone system, take accurate messages, screen and direct telephone calls to the appropriate person in an efficient manner. Register patients and make appointments.
    • Politely greet and identify patients and visitors as they enter the office and obtain additional patient information as needed. Communicate unexpected delays when necessary.
    • Collect copays at time of office visits in accordance with the patient's insurance plan.
    • Review patient charts to ensure proper documentation and information are enclosed in accordance with the practice guidelines.
    • Acquire necessary medical records and documents for patient charts by communicating via telephone, facsimile or in person with other office locations or office personnel.
    • Maintains a neat and organized front office and waiting room.
    • Schedule patients for appointments and "re-call" appointments in an efficient and productive manner.
    • Generate clinical summaries and distribute to patients for all office visits.
    • Adhere to all HIPAA regulation guidelines at all times.
    • Receive payments from patients for services rendered and reconcile daily deposits.
    • Scan patient paperwork into the appropriate sections within the patient chart.
    • Enter financial transactions and miscellaneous correspondence in computer.
    • Provide daily confirmation of upcoming patient appointments.
    • Prepare medical records requests received from patients and attorneys.
    • Make copies, fax documents, and shred documents as needed throughout the day. Monitor and order inventory office supplies and items needed for front desk operation.
    • Transcribes and updates information in patient record as needed to be in compliance with Meaningful Use measures.
    • Oversees patient check out procedure including follow up appointments and testing.
    • Verify patient insurance eligibility.
    • Escorts patients from waiting room to examination rooms. Provides patients with appropriate examination apparel.
    • performs all necessary intake and documents information including vital signs, current medications and allergies, MIPS measures, current PCP and pharmacy, etc.
    • Transcribes and updates information in patient record as needed to be in compliance with Meaningful Use measures.
    • Ensure that appropriate trays are set up and in place for minor procedures.
    • Oversees efficient and clean turn over of exam rooms and equipment.
    • Contacts pharmacies with new prescriptions or refills as needed.
    • Provide instructions to patients regarding essential information related to use of braces, bandages, dressings, etc. prior to departure.
    • Performs clerical work associated with patient care, prepares and organizes patient charts for assigned providers.
    • Monitor and order inventory of exam room supplies needed in order to run the patient rooms.
    • Scan patient paperwork appropriately.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by Manager or any other authorized NYVG/USVMG Manager or Executive.

    Required Experience, Education & Certifications:

    The incumbent must possess a minimum education of a High School Diploma (or GED) with a minimum of I year of related medical office and customer service experience. Certification as a CMA is preferred. A strong working knowledge of medical terminology is required. Medical Assistants must consistently demonstrate superior customer service, interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with physicians, staff, visitors, patients and family members. Must be highly organized with exceptional attention to details. Working knowledge of online calendar systems (Outlook), data entry and other business office system is required. Must have sound oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and a strong sense of customer/patient focus.
