  • JOB SUMMARY

    The electrical test technician conducts tests and completes data collection activities of related equipment, component systems and Cable harness products. The position fabricates prototype components and test fixtures and performs installations and repairs of test equipment and components when necessary.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned.

    • Conducts tests of new components, cable assemblies and harness systems based on test criteria as established by policies and procedures or written test plans; maintains accurate records of test results and reports results to appropriate development and testing group.
    • Conducts various performance tests of the company's product in accordance with test criteria established by policies and procedures or written test plans and maintains accurate records of test results and reports results to the development and testing group.
    • Operates required machinery and equipment in a safe manner following established safety rules, maintains a neat and clean work area, follows established tool and instrument control procedures, and reports any unsafe acts or conditions to his or her immediate supervisor.
    • Performs pre-test inspections on assemblies and maintains accurate records of the as required of these parts and the collection of test data.
    • Assists in the building of test fixtures and the verification of these fixtures in order to confirm product specifications. Carry out other needs associated with testing the components in a manner that will improve test time, effectiveness, and efficiency.
    • Supports Production in various operations such as kitting, cutting, labels, and assembly as necessary.
    • Reports to the supervisor about all ongoing projects with regard to project status, completion time projections and any problems that may have arisen during the course of the project.



    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • 1-3 years' experience is manufacturing test environment using testing processes. Experience using equipment such as a cable tester, Hipot testers, thermocouples for temperature measurements, fiber-optic light source and meters, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and network analyzer test equipment; experience with test techniques related to vehicular electrical systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to safely use basic wire prep and cable tools and equipment (wire cutters, wire strippers, rulers, screwdriver, etc.)

    SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be a US Citizen due to Naval Contractual Agreements.
    • Basic Mathematics.
    • Read electrical schematics.
    • Measurement skills.
    • Technical Capacity
    • Ability to learn & perform multiple tasks with excellent organization and prioritization, in a fast-paced team environment.
    • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality System (AS9100 preferred).
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Strict attention to detail.
    • Proven problem-solving skills.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to sit, stand, walk, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers.

    Exerting up to 10 pounds of force regularly, and occasionally up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close visual acuity to perform activities such as: inspecting manufactured parts (with and without magnification), preparing/analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and ability to distinguish colors and color variation of physical parts and components, and in documentation such as work instructions and engineering drawings.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
