Certified Position - Principal
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree with certification in Administration
Minimum of three years successful teaching and/or administrative experience.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Assistant Superintendent of Education
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serves as the instructional and administrative leader of the school.
- Provides effective leadership in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating instructional programs.
- Improves instruction through consistent classroom observation and feedback.
- Identifies day-to-day challenges in the classroom, recognizes barriers to program delivery, and collaborates with staff to address these challenges.
- Ensures students receive appropriate placement and services.
- Works with staff, students, and community stakeholders to provide a high-quality educational program.
- Supports a comprehensive professional development program for teachers by attending seminars, conferences, and meetings and providing effective turn-around training for school faculty.
- Leads faculty members to achieve high performance through goal setting and evaluation.
- Interprets and enforces federal and state law and state and local board policies.
- Assists in the recruiting, screening, selecting, and assigning of the school’s certified and classified staff.
- Provides leadership in an environment of high expectations for staff and students.
- Formulates and accomplishes the school mission and CIP.
- Assists in securing, maintaining, and managing material resources.
- Prepares and administers the school budget and supervises school finances.
- Assumes responsibility for scheduling.
- Communicates and clarifies the school’s mission to students, staff and community stakeholders.
- Provides a safe, orderly environment that facilitates teaching and learning.
- Provides a climate of high expectations for staff and students.
- Supervises, observes, and evaluates teachers and staff.
- Provides supervision and support for all extracurricular activities during and after school hours.
- Takes a leadership role in improving education.
- Supervises a professional evaluation system as established by the Walker County Board of Education and the Alabama State Board of Education.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of specified information as required.
- Ability to maintain professional interpersonal skills with staff, students and parents.
- Ability to communicate effectively & professionally both orally and in writing.
- Ability to organize materials and maintain accurate records.
- Knowledge of school system functions, departments, personnel, and schools necessary for the efficient and effective processing of communications.
- Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work as needed in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment.
- Demonstrates professional ethics.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a valid Alabama Certification in Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, or Educational Supervision.
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience.
- Must provide official transcript(s) for all degrees and administrative courses.
