Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor supervises personnel engaged in diagnostic laboratory testing. Performs assigned phases of nuclear research under the guidance of Director of Nuclear Medicine. Being a Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor assists medical students with hands-on instruction and equipment training. Monitors inventory of radioisotopes. Additionally, Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine. The Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Are you seeking a position with autonomy, significant responsibility, and a career broadening hands-on experience Do you want an opportunity to be part of the construction of VIRGINIA Class submarines and the next generation of ballistic missile submarines, the COLUMBIA Class The Reactor Plant Contractors' Office (RPCO) Program is seeking Field Engineers for the Electric Boat location in Groton, CT. The amount of construction work in progress currently is energizing and you have the opportunity to be part of building submarines that will be in operation for the next 40 years! RPCO engineers operate in a fast paced, dynamic environment and independently exercise authority to ensure that work is conducted in a safe manner. RPCO field engineers are on-site representatives of NNL and BPMI. The selected candidate will provide engineering support and independent oversight of work associated with installation, testing, and modification of reactor plant systems, components, and safety systems. RPCO engineers are engaged during nuclear work and operations and are expected to influence and provide feedback to on-site management and partner organizations. This position involves direct interaction with Navy personnel, shipyard engineering, local government representatives, and partner organizations at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory and Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. Successful completion of a job-specific Joint Test Group qualification is required for this position.

    Training and qualification associated with this position is expected to take approximately 6-10 months, depending on previous experience, and will be conducted at the Knolls Laboratory Site in Schenectady, NY. At the conclusion of the qualification, the prospective RPCO Field Engineer will be expected to demonstrate an adequate understanding of the principles and details associated with reactor plant operation and testing and the ability to function in an engineering and oversight capacity at a remote location.

    This position is an exciting opportunity to be part of the submarine new construction process. Opportunities to travel to other field locations may exist to support peak work periods. This is a 3 to 5 year assignment in a field office upon completion of qualification.

    Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 9 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 7 years of relevant experience; or Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified; or qualified SIT and 3 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Currently or previously CRE qualified; or 6 years as SRE; or SRE qualified and 9 years of experience.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Previous experience in applying innovative solutions to resolve problems/improve performance
    Prior Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program operational or design experience is desired but not required.
    Strong leadership and mentoring ability.
    Eagerness to learn and adapt to varying tasks and responsibilities.
    Experience working with US Navy Nuclear Fleet and/or nuclear capable shipyard.

    Pay Range

    $112,700 - $176,200 annually
