Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor supervises personnel engaged in diagnostic laboratory testing. Performs assigned phases of nuclear research under the guidance of Director of Nuclear Medicine. Being a Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor assists medical students with hands-on instruction and equipment training. Monitors inventory of radioisotopes. Additionally, Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine. The Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Nuclear Laboratory Technologist Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Supervisor Lab coordinates workflows including organizing, staffing, directing, reviewing, and monitoring related to some or all aspects of the clinical laboratory disciplines (e.g., Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Point of Care, Toxicology). This position works closely with other laboratory section leaders, laboratory management, and pathologists. They ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Essential Job Functions
• Utilizes working knowledge of procedures and theories in all areas of responsibilities.
• Hires, onboards, and administers disciplinary actions of personnel as needed.
• Completes schedule and manages timekeeping.
• Implements policies and procedures as relates to specific area.
• Oversees training and orientation of personnel.
• Maintains standards of accreditation for their area.
• Performs regular discussion on priorities and performance to staff via touch bases, check-ins, etc.
Licensing/Certification
MLS Medical Lab Scientist Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)
Education
Bachelors, Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Laboratory Science/Biomedical Science/Biology/Biochemistry
from a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) approved program (required)
Work Experience
5 years experience in a laboratory tech setting (required)
Previous experience in a leadership position in a laboratory tech environment (preferred)
