    Responsibilities
    • Perform nuclear cardiology scans. Follow the parameters set-up by the physicians, acquire the data, process the scan. Monitor the scans for artifacts or suboptimal images. Correct any image problems by rescanning or removing artifacts as necessary. Process films and present to physicians for interpretation.
    • Work closely with the Nuclear Medical Director to assure compliance with ICANL standards to provide continuance of our department accreditation.
    • Monitor the radiation safety program in conjunction with the Radiation Safety Officer and participate in the UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Radiation Safety Committee.
    • Interact with scheduling to order radiopharmaceuticals daily.
    • Check-in the dose box received from the radiopharmacy. Look for accurate number of doses. Perform surveys and wipe tests on dose boxes for removable contamination daily.
    • Perform quality control on the equipment as recommended by the manufacturer. This includes Gamma camera, dose calibration, Geiger counter and wipe test counter.
    • Interact with equipment vendors to schedule routine maintenance or repairs.
    • Monitor all required regulatory documentation. Follow mandated procedures and maintain records as required. Maintain nuclear materials license.
    • Use safe and reasonable radiation safety precautions. Follow the ALARA concept to keep all staff and patient radiation exposure to a minimum.

    Qualifications
    • Associate Degree in Applied Science in Nuclear Medicine
    • 2 years of recent related work experience in the field of nuclear medicine preferred.
    • BLS and Mandatory Reporter.
