Nuclear Medicine Technician provides diagnostic aid to physicians by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosages in accordance with established departmental protocol. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technician observes patients during procedures and reports any abnormal activity. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technician typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology certification Board, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.), or the American Society of Clinical Pathology. Job Summary |
This position performs a variety of dynamic nuclear medicine examinations. Follows established protocols for gathering the desired history and other imaging studies. Administer therapeutic doses under the direct guidance of the radiologist and radiation safety officer. Accurately prepares exam room and tray set up for procedures. Produces high quality diagnostic scans. Communicates well with other staff as well as physician offices to insure accuracy in order information and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
