Nuclear Medicine Technician provides diagnostic aid to physicians by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosages in accordance with established departmental protocol. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technician observes patients during procedures and reports any abnormal activity. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technician typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology certification Board, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.), or the American Society of Clinical Pathology.     Job Overview:

    Under the direction of a radiologist, performs nuclear scans at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.

    General Responsibilities:

    • Orders all isotopes as needed for studies which are pending.
    • Maintains equipment and hot lab according to state and federal regulations.
    • Performs all QC procedures.
    • Maintains radiation safety badges and logs.
    • Cross-trained in other radiology modalities preferred.
    • Will also follow the principles and guidelines as set forth by the American College of Radiology.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Qualifications

    • Satisfactory completion of formal radiological training in an AMA-approved school of Nuclear Medicine.
    • 3 years experience as a registered nuclear medicine technologist in an acute care hospital.
    • Preferably registered by and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and State License through the Florida Bureau of Radiation Control is mandatory.
    • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification required.
    • Venipuncture certification preferred.
    • Communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills and customer service skills required.
