Nuclear Medicine Technician jobs in Kansas City, MO

Nuclear Medicine Technician provides diagnostic aid to physicians by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosages in accordance with established departmental protocol. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technician observes patients during procedures and reports any abnormal activity. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technician typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology certification Board, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.), or the American Society of Clinical Pathology.     Responsibilities

    A Nuclear Medicine Technologist, also known as a Nuclear Med Tech, oversees administering radioactive medication to patients and running imaging systems to monitor radiation levels within the patient's body. Other responsibilities include syringe sterilization, getting patients ready for scans, and processing image reports that show illness.

    Qualifications

    Education and Work Experience

  • Current State Nuclear Medicine License issued by CDPH, A.R.R.T. or N.M.T.C.B. Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology required.
  • One year of acute, clinical radiology experience is preferred.
  • At least one year of experience as a nuclear medicine technologist preferred.
  • Knowledge of mobile and stationary Radiographic / Fluoroscopic equipment preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology is required.
  • Graduate of a program accredited by JRCNMT or CAMRT.
  • Current BCLS (AHA) required.
  • Proficient computer skills.
