Nuclear Medicine Technician provides diagnostic aid to physicians by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosages in accordance with established departmental protocol. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technician observes patients during procedures and reports any abnormal activity. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technician typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology certification Board, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.), or the American Society of Clinical Pathology. Responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare in Imaging Services and assist in the performance of other duties. Promotes service excellence. Responsible for all duties in maintaining documentation for licensure by the State of Georgia.
Completion of training program specific to Nuclear Medicine technology which allows certification.
Currently registry eligible with ARRT or NMTCB. Must be registered with ARRT or NMTCB within 12 months. Current AHA/ARC BLS certification.
Utilizes a variety of standard Nuclear Medicine Gamma Cameras and Computer processors. Able to utilize office equipment and supplies.
Successful candidates will be subject to criminal background and drug screens.
