Nuclear Medicine Technician provides diagnostic aid to physicians by conducting organ or body scans on patients. Administers and records isotope dosages in accordance with established departmental protocol. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technician observes patients during procedures and reports any abnormal activity. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technician typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Requires registration with the Nuclear Medicine Technology certification Board, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.), or the American Society of Clinical Pathology. Graduation from an approved program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Additional experience in PET imaging is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMAND
Standing and walking most of the day. Working with lightweight equipment with occasional lifting, pushing and pulling heavy objects. Must have the ability to see and hear all the surrounding activities in the Deparmtent. May be exposed to infectious diseases, or hazardous materials including radioactivity. Must at times wear eye protection, lab coat, face protection, sterile gowns and gloves. Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Average Nuclear Medicine and clinical radiology setting.
