Nuclear Medicine Technologist jobs in Bradenton, FL

Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments. Creates and enhances diagnostic images using a variety of imaging equipment and tools. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technologist collects biologic specimens and prepares data for interpretation by physicians. Follows radiation safety guidelines and documents radiopharmaceutical usage for regulatory compliance. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technologist may require a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically requires certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     Job Overview:

    Under the direction of a radiologist, performs nuclear scans at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.

    General Responsibilities:

    • Orders all isotopes as needed for studies which are pending.
    • Maintains equipment and hot lab according to state and federal regulations.
    • Performs all QC procedures.
    • Maintains radiation safety badges and logs.
    • Cross-trained in other radiology modalities preferred.
    • Will also follow the principles and guidelines as set forth by the American College of Radiology.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Qualifications

    • Satisfactory completion of formal radiological training in an AMA-approved school of Nuclear Medicine.
    • 3 years experience as a registered nuclear medicine technologist in an acute care hospital.
    • Preferably registered by and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and State License through the Florida Bureau of Radiation Control is mandatory.
    • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification required.
    • Venipuncture certification preferred.
    • Communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills and customer service skills required.
