Nuclear Medicine Technologist jobs in Daytona Beach, FL

Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments. Creates and enhances diagnostic images using a variety of imaging equipment and tools. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technologist collects biologic specimens and prepares data for interpretation by physicians. Follows radiation safety guidelines and documents radiopharmaceutical usage for regulatory compliance. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technologist may require a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically requires certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     Halifax Health is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for the Radiology - Nuclear Medicine Department.

    Summary

    The Nuclear Med Tech will provide patient care and follow up as necessary to more than one area as assigned, while producing high quality images utilizing all gamma cameras.

    Job Qualifications

    • Must be a graduate of a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (AMA) approved School of Radiologic Technology; a four year program is preferred
    • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
    • Licensed by the State of Florida in Nuclear Medicine Technology and have a current license
    • Need to have completed 16 hours of continuing education in CT and/or CT registered.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    • Conducts patient assessment and monitoring.
    • Provides radiopharmaceutical administration with patient assessment and follow up.
    • Oversees patient scheduling, obtains and disseminates appropriate medical information.
    • Demonstrates all necessary skills and knowledge of computers and/or equipment technology in Nuclear Medicine including but not limited to acquisition and processing, thyroid probe, dose calibrator, dosing computer, PACS, and HIS (Meditech).
    • Provides backup supervision (coordination) and direction to all radiology sections in the absence of a Coordinator.
    • Directly supervises students.
    • Completes student competency and performance evaluations as well as organizing student labs as required.
    • Maintains certification according to State, National and hospital regulations.
    • Must possess knowledge of State and JCAHO regulations and is expected to be familiar with the current Patient Safety Goals and the hospital's current core measures.
