Follows radiation safety guidelines and documents radiopharmaceutical usage for regulatory compliance. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technologist may require a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically requires certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and a state license to practice. - Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients for imaging procedures
- Operate imaging equipment such as gamma cameras and PET scanners
- Position patients correctly for imaging procedures and ensure their comfort and safety
- Monitor patients during procedures to ensure their well-being
- Capture high-quality images of the targeted area using specialized imaging techniques
- Analyze images and provide accurate interpretations to physicians for diagnosis
- Maintain patient records and document all procedures performed
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
Skills:
- Proficiency in performing ER (Emergency Room) nuclear medicine procedures
- Experience with PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scans
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to nuclear medicine procedures
- Familiarity with aseptic technique for handling radioactive materials
- Understanding of mammography and sonography procedures
- Strong knowledge of human physiology and anatomy
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using nuclear medicine techniques
- Competence in X-ray imaging techniques
