Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments. Creates and enhances diagnostic images using a variety of imaging equipment and tools. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technologist collects biologic specimens and prepares data for interpretation by physicians. Follows radiation safety guidelines and documents radiopharmaceutical usage for regulatory compliance. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technologist may require a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically requires certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist - TEST will:
Under the direction of a qualified physician, administers radioactive materials and operates nuclear medicine equipment in order to perform imaging, laboratory and dynamic function studies necessary to aid physicians in diagnosis and treatment of illnesses. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care as appropriate to the ages of the patients growth and development through the life cycle factors (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).
Requirements:
• Possesses NJ State license in nuclear medicine.
• Possesses a working knowledge of scintillation cameras and related computers.
• Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with other departments within the Hospital, attending physicians and other hospitals.
• Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with extremely ill and/or irritable patients.
• BLS Certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association.
