Nuclear Medicine Technologist jobs in Saint Petersburg, FL

Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments. Creates and enhances diagnostic images using a variety of imaging equipment and tools. Being a Nuclear Medicine Technologist collects biologic specimens and prepares data for interpretation by physicians. Follows radiation safety guidelines and documents radiopharmaceutical usage for regulatory compliance. Additionally, Nuclear Medicine Technologist may require a bachelor's degree in a related area. Typically requires certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     Nuclear Medicine Technologist Position Summary:

    Performs all Nuclear Medicine imaging, uptake and dilution studies; assists with PET/CT imaging to provide quality diagnostic exams while providing a high level of patient care; prepares radiopharmaceutical kits and patient doses; complies with State regulations regarding handling of radioactive materials; schedules all exams to ensure exam appropriateness and provides communication to families and physicians; coordinates daily patient flow.

    Nuclear Medicine Technologist Key Accountabilities:

    • Produces and evaluates images to assist the radiologist with timely interpretation of imaging exams and patients for treatment and plan of care for patients
    • Adheres to image specific policies in regards to patient safety that are established by the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital regulatory, and accreditation governing bodies
    • Maintains required levels of education that pertain to clinical, family, and patient centered care
    • Complies with State of Florida regulations regarding receipt, handling, disposal and administration of radioactive materials
    • Demonstrates knowledge of various Nuclear Medicine equipment as well as PACs and RIS computer skills

    Work Hours: 8am - 4:30pm (M-F), 40 hrs/week

    Work Location: St. Petersburg, FL

    Nuclear Medicine Technologist Qualifications:

    • Completion of an AMA accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
    • 2 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine
    • ARRT and/or NMTCB registries
    • Licensure by the State of Florida, Department of Health Office of Radiation Control
    • Current Basic Life Support, AHA
