Nuclear Pharmacist under the direction of a physician, compounds and dispenses radiopharmaceutical drugs to medical care providers. Responsible for procuring, compounding, dispensing, and distributing radiopharmaceuticals. Being a Nuclear Pharmacist analyzes drugs for verification of identity and strength. Must have completed a program in nuclear pharmacy. Additionally, Nuclear Pharmacist may require an advanced degree of pharmacy. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Requires license to practice. Nuclear Pharmacist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.     STATUS: Coverage – As Needed (Approx 1440 hours per year)

    PAY STRUCTURE: 1099

    LOCATION: On-site in the Health Services Department at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Seagoville, located at 2113 N. Highway 175, Seagoville, Texas 75159.

    SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 6to 8 hours per day

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must maintain a current, unrestricted Pharmacist license.
    • Must have completed an accredited program in pharmacy, and be able to provide transcripts of the training leading to the degree (Master’s or Doctorate).
    • Have a current CPR certification.
    • Correctional experience is preferred, but not required.
    • Possess knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures to perform job activities on various types of
    • medical equipment and automated systems and of safety principles and infection control in the patient care environment.
    • Possess the ability to relate and deal effectively with physician, peers, inmates, and others; to recognize, report, and record changes in patient’s physical and emotional condition.
    • Be able to administer medication.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Interpreting medical/dental staff prescription orders. These orders may be the traditional physical prescription or orders taken from entries of the patient’s medical file.
    • Entering prescriptions into the pharmacy's prescription computer system and printing prescription labels.
    • Selecting the correct medication and filling the prescriptions.
    • Inventorying medications and supplies, recording items that are low and in stocking levels, and advising the HAS and/or Assistant Health Services Administrator of medications that need ordering.
    • Interacting with inmates regarding their medications and providing patient education about the medication.
    • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations during the performance of above duties.
