Nurse Scheduler in Long-Term Care Job Summary:

• Collaborates with the Administration, Director of Nursing, and Human Resources in following a master schedule to ensure all units/shifts are always adequately staffed.
• Forecasts and manages schedule distribution taking in consideration PTO requests, holidays, FMLA and personal leave as well as open positions to ensure efficient nursing staff coverage is maintained including on the weekend/holiday.
• Communicates with Administration, Director of Nursing/designee, Human Resources and/or payroll staff regarding employee staffing related matters as needed.
• Partners with Infection Control Preventionist/designee on scheduling employees for annual Influenza vaccines, physicals, TB testing, etc.
• Manages daily schedule based upon census by unit and reconciles in Excel.
• Determines replacement staff for call offs based upon unit census and daily staffing requirement.
• Fills needed replacements through phone calls and scheduling software to reduce overtime and agency staff.
• Assures all employees and agency staff punch the clock or properly fill out missed punch forms.
• Reviews timecards for early punch ins and late punch outs.
• Reviews and approves all agency invoices to punches on timecards and reports any discrepancies.
• Enrolls agency staff in the use of the time clock.
• Assures that the scheduling software accurately reflects staff on the floor.

Nurse Scheduler in Long-Term Care Qualifications:

• Associate Degree required. In lieu of a degree, additional work experience may be acceptable.
• Scheduler experience required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ proven experience in a Long-Term Care.
• Detail oriented.
• Demonstrated Verbal and Written competency.
• Good listening skills are essential.
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) experience.
• Automated Scheduling Software (Workforce Dimensions preferred).
• Payroll Time Management: UKG (formerly Ultipro - UTM) preferred.
• Proven ability to learn and master other Nursing Home related software.
