Nurse Manager - Phone Triage manages the day-to-day operation of a nurse triage call center and implements established policies, procedures, and service models. Uses performance and quality standards to achieve and maintain required care delivery levels. Being a Nurse Manager - Phone Triage monitors operations with call data analysis to identify trends, measure productivity, and respond to increases in demand for services. Conducts recruitment and selection activities to maintain optimum levels of nursing staff. Additionally, Nurse Manager - Phone Triage ensures compliance with nursing staff standards for competencies, assessments, licensure, certifications, and other annual training. Responds to escalated problems and may provide patient care evaluations and recommend responses. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to a director. The Nurse Manager - Phone Triage manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     1. Under the direct supervision of the Physician or Operations/Practice Manager, assist in providing nursing care to office patients. Triage and evaluate patients, mainly via telephone calls and some walk-in patients; obtain major complaints (and brief medical history when necessary) and complete chart documentation
    2. Inform physician or nurse practitioner of any patient symptoms that you have addressed and/or for guidance on resolving any issues, if necessary.
    3. Obtain patient's current medication regimen, refill medication orders in the office or over the telephone under a physician's supervision and document same. Assist other departments as needs; i.e. Coumadin Clinic with Lovenox instructions to patients, out of range INR results, etc.
    4. Respond to Codes that are paged in the practice and assist with medical personal as needed.
    5. Answer general health questions for patients via telephone or in office with advice, referral, or appointment under physician's direction. Triage telephone calls with complete follow-through.
    6. Maintain, order and stock necessary pharmaceuticals weekly. Obtain verbal and written reports from outside agencies such as, VNA, radiology, or other physician's office with timely, concise transmittal to physician.
    7. To maintain patient rights and confidentiality of information. Serve as an advocate and provide a safe and secure environment. Participate in identification of the important aspects of care for each patient, the identification of indicators used to monitor the quality and appropriateness of care.
    8. Assess personal and learning developmental needs and act as a resource person. Participate in nursing and staff meetings and other activities which promote the growth and developmental of nursing and patient care.
    9. Assist with secretarial/clerical duties as needed including filing incoming paperwork, copying medical records, answering phones, taking messages and faxing.
    10. Perform other work related duties as requested/directed. Work cooperatively with co-workers and communicate politely with department employees, patients, visitors and other personnel within and outside the hospital.

    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
    • Currently licensed as a professional nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
    • Current Basic Life Support Certification
    • Experience of current office technology
    • Proficient in computer office applications
    • Minimum of two years experience in a clinical setting preferred

    Schedule Details: 40 Hours per week, Mon-Fri, Occ Weekends & Holidays *Sign-On Bonus Eligible*
