    About the Position:

    Position Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Orders appropriate laboratory tests, x-rays, EKG and comparable procedures according to criteria previously established by the responsible physician.
    • Writes orders to institute, increase, decrease or change medications, subject to checking and countersigning by physician.
    • Initiates consultations and monitors scheduling of patients for special tests.
    • Identifies problems, develops and implements treatment plans.
    • Counsels patients as to preventive care, medical problems and use of prescribed treatment and drugs.
    • Participates in clinical investigations as necessary.
    • Establish priorities for patient care following UHC protocols.
    • Performs appropriate physical exam. 
    • Obtains and records vital signs.
    • Performs pelvic examination.
    • Administers injections and performs venipuncture, if necessary.
    • Examines urine sediment and vaginal secretions microscopically.
    • Obtains vaginal, cervical and other appropriate cultures, when needed.
    • Obtain Pap smears, as needed.
    • Administers medication when indicated.
    • Assesses the total patient bio-psychosocially and intervenes appropriately.
    • Instructs and counsels patients regarding treatment procedures and health maintenance.
    • Assesses and counsel’s patients regarding sexually transmitted disease.
    • Instructs and counsels patients adhering to prescribed limitations with emphasis on appropriate referrals.
    • Determines the necessity of follow-up and/or referrals to appropriate member of health care team, urologist, gynecologist or appropriate medical specialty.

     

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
    • Master’s Degree in Nursing.
    • Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, American Nurses Association). 
    • Proficient in MS Office and computer systems (i.e. Electronic Medical Records).
    • Excellent communication and people skills. 
    • Must be a US Citizen.
