Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal works in collaboration with a physician to assess the physical needs of newborn patients. Provides care for newborns and infants in a neonatal setting. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) in specialty area based on RN licensure and state authority for advanced practice. The NICU Nurse Tech 1 serves as a unit clerk by answering the telephone, screening and verifying all visitors who enter in the unit while maintaining and completing clerical responsibilities as required. Responsible for stocking department supplies, maintaining par levels, as well as cleaning designated NICU equipment and unit specific areas. Must be able to communicate effectively and adapt to the constantly changing workload related to increase volume and acuity. The Nurse Tech 1 may also perform non-licensed patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, may be floated to work in other areas of Children's and utilized as a sitter.
