Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal works in collaboration with a physician to assess the physical needs of newborn patients. Provides care for newborns and infants in a neonatal setting. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) in specialty area based on RN licensure and state authority for advanced practice. - NICU and Newborn Nursery Bed Size:
- CR: 4 beds
- LAH: 14 beds
- PAH: 12 beds
- Average Daily Census: The average daily census ranges from 2 to 7 at all three facilities.
- Annual Births/Deliveries:
- CR: 950
- LAH: 1,500
- PAH: 1,250
- Scribe or Midlevel Support: Yes, 24/7 APP support available
- C-Section Rate: Approximately 30%
- EMR, Charting, Dictation: Utilizing Epic & PremiEHR
- Shift Responsibilities and Procedures: Responsibilities include rounding on NICU patients, attendance at deliveries, providing well newborn coverage, and performing circumcisions.
- PICU or NICU Level: Coverage includes both Level II and Level III NICUs.
- Medical License State: Colorado - Will accept those needing to apply
- Board Certified Required: Yes
- Board Eligible Accepted: No
- Other Certification Requirements: NNP-BC
- Shift Coverage Model: In-house coverage for 24 hours
- Shift Times: From 7:00 am to 7:00 am
