Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal jobs in Jackson, MS

Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal works in collaboration with a physician to assess the physical needs of newborn patients. Provides care for newborns and infants in a neonatal setting. Being a Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal orders, interprets, and records results of clinical tests and reports results to physicians. Prescribes medications and makes recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment. Additionally, Nurse Practitioner - Neonatal requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) in specialty area based on RN licensure and state authority for advanced practice.   • The Nurse Practitioner position requires collaboration with our physicians and other members of our medical team to provide quality healthcare for children and adults.


    Scope of Responsibilities

    • Provides general and preventative care.
    • Diagnoses and treats acute conditions.
    • Conducts wellness exams.
    • Orders lab and imaging testing.
    • Prescribes medication.
    • Conducts sports physicals.
    • Conducts a variety of occupational medicine testing including DOT and non-DOT physicals.
    • Provides care to workers compensation patients.
    • Generates treatment plans following patient examinations.
    • Encourages patient care by working together with clinical staff in areas such as evaluating current practices, reviewing alternatives, and deliberating with patient care administrators.
    • Provides education to patients and their families on managing their conditions.
    • Integrate practices to enhance staff collaboration.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure with a concentration in Family Medicine.
    • Clinical and/or ER experience is preferred.
    • Significant complex problem-solving skills.
    • Exceptional ability to care for others and engage in leadership functions in areas related to healthcare.
    • Comfortable working independently.
    • DOT certification is preferred and must be maintained for all full-time NP staff.

    Physical Demands

    The physical essential functions of this job include (but are not limited to) the following: Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects; occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work.
