The individual in this position will be responsible for the recruitment and management of students applying to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program within the School of Nursing, with particular concentration on the 4-year BSN track. This individual will manage a robust communication plan with prospective students and with internal and external constituencies of the University and the School of Nursing. This individual will report directly to the School of Nursing Director of Admissions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meets with prospective students and their families throughout the recruitment and enrollment process to discuss the School of Nursing, Nursing as a profession, and Duquesne University.
Develops a keen understanding of the requirements for admission to both the University and the School of Nursing.
Communicates effectively with prospective students regarding the application process and status throughout the admissions cycle. This requires extensive messaging such as phone calls, emails, written correspondence, and social media channels. Provides timely and accurate program and admissions information, educational and career counseling, and academic advising regarding the program of study and prerequisite coursework.
Evaluates applicants’ credentials for admission to the BSN program, and is adept at interpreting the unique characteristics of each applicant.
Creates a welcoming environment and ensures a positive experience for prospective and new students and their families.
Delivers presentations to audiences of various sizes about nursing as a profession, and provides information about the School of Nursing and Duquesne University at Open Houses, Admitted Student Days, Information Sessions, and School Fairs. Travel to conferences and events throughout the year is expected.
Makes admission decisions and consults with the Director of Admissions as necessary.
Collaborates with fellow School of Nursing Office of Recruitment and Enrollment Management personnel regarding marketing, events, website, and social media.
Manages the transfer admission process to the BSN program, including ensuring timely completed applicant files and admission decisions.
Manages the BME/BSN recruitment process.
Collaborates with multiple University and School of Nursing departments. Actively engages with the Enrollment Management Group and is responsible for translating university-level recruitment strategy.
Proposes recommendations to the School of Nursing’s marketing and web/social media team regarding communications and recruitment assets.
Completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in university admissions, healthcare, marketing, communications, counseling or a similar field
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a related field
A valid driver’s license
Knowledge about the profession of nursing and nursing education is strongly desired
Preferred qualifications:
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution is preferred.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Available to travel and work some weekends and evenings
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time management organizational skills
Highly proficient in the use of CRMs, computer programs such as Microsoft Office, electronic filing systems, and shared drives
Working knowledge of university resources such as financial aid, disability services, and enrollment management
Exceptional intuitive and interpersonal skills, and the ability to relate to students, faculty and other professionals
Able to analyze relative information and make appropriate independent decisions
