Nursing Assistant assists nursing team with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients. Assists patients in dressing, undressing, bathing, eating, walking, and other activities. Being a Nursing Assistant ensures patients' well-being and comfort. Changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures. Additionally, Nursing Assistant may serve and collect food trays and provide patients with between-meal nourishment. May record temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a registered nurse or supervisor. The Nursing Assistant works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse
- Assist with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Take and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse
- Assist with medication administration and ensure accurate documentation
- Assist with patient transfers and mobility
- Monitor patients' condition and report any changes to the nursing staff
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a nursing assistant training program or equivalent experience
- Current certification as a nursing assistant (CNA)
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical procedures
- Experience in an acute care hospital, nursing home, or pediatric setting preferred
- Familiarity with durable medical equipment (DME) and medical records systems
Skills:
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care
- Attention to detail for accurate documentation and medication administration
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
