Nursing Director Assistant - Nursing Home administers the nursing program in a nursing home in the absence of the Nursing Director. Oversees operations in order to maintain standards of patient care. Being a Nursing Director Assistant - Nursing Home advises management, patient care staff and administrators in matters related to nursing service. Assists in the establishment and implementation of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Additionally, Nursing Director Assistant - Nursing Home interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Typically requires an advanced degree of nursing. Typically reports to the Nursing Director. Requires RN license. The Nursing Director Assistant - Nursing Home supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Nursing Director Assistant - Nursing Home typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) is responsible for, but not limited to:
- Assist the DON Director of Nursing in managing the nursing department and with regulatory compliance and ensure effective communication strategies with all levels of nursing staff to promote effective care delivery.
- Maintain quality nursing standards of care, including consultation to medical staff, department heads, and Administrator in matters related to nursing services.
- Provide input into interpretation of nursing philosophy and assists in establishing departmental goals and objectives.
- Promote positive employee relations, strong customer service ethic and commitment to ongoing nurse staff education and training. May exercise direction over the nursing department.
- Ensure Integrity of educational nursing programs offered within the facility.
- Staff Development - Identify current nursing employees to be mentored into both personal and career advancement towards leadership position within the corporation
Qualifications for Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON):
- At least 2 years of nursing supervisory experience required.
- Currently licensed as RN in state of Florida.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- A minimum of one year of long-term or acute health care experience preferred.
