Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Additionally, Nursing Director requires an advanced degree of nursing. Typically reports to top management. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     The Director of Nursing (DON) will be responsible for the clinical operations of the skilled nursing facility. In this leadership role, the DON will manage, supervise, and coordinate all nursing staff top quality care of residents, and clinical compliance.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Direct, oversee, and evaluate all nursing staff
    • Promote the philosophy, mission, and administrative policies of the Company
    • Oversee department budgets and monitor expenditures
    • Resolve issues and deficiencies when needed
    • Collaborate with other departments and professionals to streamline operations
    • Maintain high standards of care for all patients
    • Provide care using infection control measures that protect both the staff and the patient
    • Manage patients’ data and medical records as confidential records
    • Develop, document, and implement the plan of care
    • Communicate effectively and courteously with doctors, patients, and family members about patient health
    • Training and onboarding new nursing staff
    • Provide ongoing education classes
    • Implement new procedures and training Nurses on policies
    • Participate in the QAPI activities
    • Perform on-call responsibilities and provides on-call service to patients and their families as assigned
    • Assume responsibility of the facility in the absence of facility Administrator 

     

    Requirements and qualifications:

     

    • Active and unencumbered RN license in state of hire
    • 2 years experience as a DON in SNF
    • Demonstrated history of successful survey (clinical aspect)
