Nursing Director administers the nursing program in a hospital, nursing home, or other medical facility to maintain standards of patient care. Advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service. Being a Nursing Director recommends establishment or revision of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Additionally, Nursing Director requires an advanced degree of nursing. Typically reports to top management. Requires RN license. The Nursing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Nursing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Responsibilities:

    The director of nursing will be a registered professional nurse who has at least one year of full time or full time equivalent experience in nursing supervision and/or nursing administration in a licensed health care facility.

    A registered nurse will be available on the premises when the home is operating.

    Additional licensed nurse will be present in the home when the daily census exceeds 60 participants.

    The director of nursing will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    • interviewing the recipients and caregivers in order to evaluate the recipient's health status and health care needs;
    • monitoring of identified medical conditions;
    • administration and supervision of prescribed medications and treatments;
    • coordination of rehabilitative services;
    • development of a restorative nursing plan;
    • monitoring of clinical behavior nutritional status;
    • assisting with the maintenance or redevelopment of ADL skills;
    • developing and implementing of infection control procedures;
    • communicating the finding to the attending physicians;
    • documenting the nursing services provided, including the initial assessment and evaluation of the recipient's health care needs, development of the nursing components in their plan of care;
    • overseeing the multidisciplinary plan of care;
    • alerting others involved in the recipient's care about changes in status and the need to change the plan of care; establishing relationships with appropriate personnel in other institutions:
    • hospitals, rehabilitation centers, home health agencies, clinics, case management sites, laboratories, and related community resources and maintaining ongoing communication with those providers;
    • linking the patient to needed health care services outside the program;
    • coordinating the interdisciplinary care of plan to meet the mutually identified health care and psychosocial needs of each patient;
    • providing staff with training and consultation on medically related topics;
    • providing health education for family members;
    • be an advocate to assist the patient and family to resolve problems.
    • developing and implementing a quality assurance program for nursing components; nursing staff will assure that nursing services provided to recipients are coordinated with health services currently received at home, as well as with existing community health agencies.

    To ensure quality personal care, the staff will make a daily check to assure that recipients are maintaining personal hygiene, receiving medications as prescribed including renewal of prescriptions and disposition of outdated or discontinued drugs, and participating inappropriate social and recreational activities; education in and assisting with ADL ( walking, eating, toileting, grooming, etc..)

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
