Coordinates orientation programs for new staff members, develops programs to keep existing staff up-to-date, and acts as general resource for nursing personnel. The Fiscal Coordinator in the Financial Planning Unit will provide support and assistance to the Director of Financial Planning in the oversight of the travel reimbursement process, bank deposits and reconciliations and state account reconciliations as well as develop and implement new ESE internal controls, policies, and procedures to streamline processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with DESE’s General Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), Statutory Receivable, Capital Fixed Asset, and Lease Reporting.
Assist with the analysis of open year-end encumbrances.
Assist in the oversight of the travel reimbursement process.
Conduct daily reconciliations of bank deposits.
Review accounts payable invoices for compliance with Comptroller’s Bill Paying Policy.
Reconcile state appropriations.
Prepare audit verification letters for vendors.
Assist with writing policies and procedures to streamline processes.
Assist with providing source documentation for the Department’s Single Audit
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in accounting, reconciliations, and accounting practices.
Ability to adjust to varying or changing situations to meet emergency or changing program requirements.
Prior experience with MMARS and/or CIW ((Commonwealth’s Information Warehouse) a plus
Ability to develop and prioritize daily work schedules.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with agency financial contacts and program managers.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of supervision.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Travel may be required for this position.
