    Job Description Summary

    DEFINITION

    Under general supervision of the assigned administrator, this position coordinates, plans, organizes and leads adult education and noncredit programs that contribute to and encourage college attendance and retention for intentional students' populations. Programs could include English as a Second Language, GED, Adults with Disabilities, Emeritus, Vocational Education, and/or populations disadvantaged by socioeconomic, gender, ethnic, or other designations. The Continuing Education Coordinator will collaborate across departments and with community partners to support outreach, access, registration, enrollment for targeted student groups, and perform other related duties as required.

    DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

    The incumbent in this position performs professional and collaborative work in support of the Continuing Education programs and exercises independent judgment in the application of District policies and procedures,

    The assignment may be at any District site as well as off-campus sites throughout the county, and the incumbent will be required to work evening hours and have occasional weekend assignments.

    Incumbents in this position support a Guided Pathways framework, program learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness by recruiting new students and assisting students enrolled in Continuing Education programs.

    Essential Functions & Qualifications

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Coordinate plan, develop and assist with implementation of noncredit and adult education programs to enhance retention and academic achievement;
    Oversee and schedule events, student development activities, speakers, and other activities that encourage students to participate in the campus community;
    Provide functional guidance to noncredit faculty;
    Collaborate with community partners to support, expand, and enhance adult education and noncredit programming;
    Collaborate and coordinate with the assigned administrator on implementing student success strategies in a guided pathways framework;
    Develop, expand and enhance district-wide outreach efforts to include community partners and agencies, local school districts, and businesses;
    Coordinate with the assigned administrator on the recruitment and hiring of short-term temporary employees to support the Continuing Education programs;
    Support the Continuing Education programs and students at community sites;
    Complete, submit, and maintain records of forms, and Memorandum of Agreements for off campus sites;
    Coordinate with the appropriate administrators to facilitate noncredit registrations and enrollment services;
    Conduct success workshops and presentations to support student success;
    Conduct recruitment activities and marketing strategies to increase noncredit student enrollment and success;
    Create and share status reports with the assigned administrator on a regular and scheduled basis;
    Collaborate with the assigned administrator to implement and support state and federal policies for adult education and noncredit programs;
    Collect and review data and compile reports to document student success, and retention services;
    Provide effective services to students with diverse academic, professional, and personal goals and help with transitions in and out of noncredit and credit programs;
    Initiate referrals to appropriate campus services (to facilitate the students' involvement with the total college experience);
    Conduct individual and group orientations for new students;
    Participate in district wide outreach efforts;
    Provide information and interpretations of policies and procedures to Cuesta students and prospective students as a part of the intake process;
    Attend required trainings and workshops to stay current on district and program policies and procedures;
    Follow state and federal program regulations and district policies and procedures; and
    Perform other related duties as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:
    Required

    Associate's degree from an accredited institution;

    Experience:
    Required

    One (1) year experience working with program(s) designed to support educational opportunities for underserved populations.
    Preferred

    Experience working in an educational institution;
    Experience in marketing or coordinating educational programs;
    Bilingual Spanish/English (oral and written)

    Knowledge of:
    Techniques and skills necessary for outreach, public relations, publicity, marketing, advertising and sales;
    Drafting effective written correspondence, including report writing;
    Record keeping procedures;
    The District's community and its diverse population;
    Correct English and Spanish usage;
    Current technologies, personal computer, and associated office software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and/or database software;
    Correct usage of English, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary; and
    District policies and procedures.

    Ability to:
    Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties; and
    Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and of staff and students with physical and learning disabilities.

    Physical ability to:
    Read and comprehend printed matter and text and data on computer monitors;
    Communicate intelligibly and effectively via speech, telephone, written correspondence, and/or email;
    Sit or stand for extended periods of time;
    Lift and/or carry 25 pounds; and
    Exert manual dexterity sufficient for keyboard and other office equipment operation.

    License and Certificates (current within the last year) :
    Required

    Valid driver's license and eligible to obtain California driver's license upon hire.

    SALARY SCHEDULE
    Below is the full salary schedule range for this position, steps A through E. Per Cuesta College's bargaining agreement, new employees are placed at Steps A through C, which is the anticipated hiring range also listed below.
