    Position Summary:
    Adams State University invites applications for a part-time Simulation Laboratory Assistant position in

    nursing. This position is a renewable 9-month contract coinciding with the academic calendarAdams

    State University, a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) in rural

    southern Colorado, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic educator with significant prior

    leadership experiences to serve as the Nursing Program Director. The successful candidate will

    provide leadership and oversight of the online RN to BSN program and the traditional BSN

    program. The Nursing Program Director facilitates and promotes student learning within each

    of the Nursing programs through sound administrative practices and the creation of an

    environment that promotes academic rigor, fosters instructional innovation, and provides

    comprehensive support services to students. The Nursing Program Director works closely with

    department faculty, staff, and students as well as health care providers, community partners,

    and other educational programs.

    Candidates should demonstrate that they possess (a) a commitment to student-centered

    instruction, (b) a passion for mentoring and teaching a diverse student population, (c) a

    commitment to further maintain a research record that is commensurate with level of experience, (e) a

    vision for expanding programs and other initiatives. The successful candidate must have the ability to

    effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse faculty, staff, and students as well as partners

    within the small, rural community of Alamosa and the greater San Luis Valley. The university offers

    Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities)

    The director is responsible for administrative oversight of the department. Responsibilities beyond

    teaching include, but are not limited to:
    1. Ensuring that the nursing programs comply with all requirements of both the Colorado

    State Board of Nursing and the CCNE.

    2. Assuming responsibility for faculty and staff evaluation and development.

    3. Developing and maintaining partnerships with external agencies.

    4. Assuming a leadership and coordinative role in curriculum development and evaluation,

    including the establishment and assessment of student learning outcomes and the use of

    instructional technologies.

    5. Developing and enforcing guidelines pertaining to admission, retention, and recruitment

    of students.

    6. Coordinating, administering, and directing all activities in the development,

    implementation, and management of the Nursing programs including fiscal planning,

    grants, and other funding sources.

    7. Coordinating the preparation of appropriate licensing board reports and accreditation

    visits of the Colorado State Board of Nursing and CCNE to maintain full accreditation

    status.

    8. Represents the Nursing program in community collaborations.

    9. Recruiting and hiring of faculty.

    10. Academic advising, scholarly activities, and service to the university, profession, &

    community.

    Qualifications:
    The Director of the Nursing Education Program must possess the following qualifications:

    Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and

    collegiality with employees, students, and the community. This includes the ability to use appropriate

    conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the

    disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires.

    • A minimum of a Master’s degree in nursing from a Nursing Education Program with national
    nursing accreditation.

    • An active unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Colorado; or ability
    to obtain a Colorado license.

    • Documented knowledge and skills related to teaching adults, teaching methodology,
    curriculum development, and curriculum evaluation.

    • Two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent, clinical experience as a practicing registered
    nurse.

    • Two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent, experience in teaching in an approved Nursing
    Education Program. Such experience must be at or above the level of the Nursing Education

    Program the individual will be directing.

    Preference will be given to applicants who possess/demonstrate:

    • Evidence of valuing equity, treating cultural diversity as assets, and promoting
    inclusiveness through demonstrated experience with culturally diverse communities

    among potential target and constituent populations, and a track record of working with

    underserved or underrepresented populations.

    • Doctorate of Nursing degree.
    • Experience with online nursing education.
    • Prior administrative experience.
    • Evidence of a leadership style that includes faculty mentoring, open communication,
    innovation, and fiscal responsibility.

    • Experience with CCNE accreditation.
    • Evidence of networking ability.
    • Evidence of scholarly activity and potential for continued scholarly growth.
    Salary and Compensation:
    A base faculty salary of $57,792 to $80,016 commensurate with qualifications and academic

    rank with an administrative stipend. Excellent medical/dental and retirement benefits.
