Nursing Home Administrator oversees all activities of a nursing home in accordance with established policies and federal and state guidelines. Develops strategic plans for profitability and is accountable for all operations and programs. Being a Nursing Home Administrator administers, directs and coordinates the business. Recommends and leads changes to improve the nursing home. Additionally, Nursing Home Administrator may require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. May require a state administrator license. The Nursing Home Administrator manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Nursing Home Administrator typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Responsibilities: 

    • Accountable for the total operation of the assigned nursing home in compliance with Standards of Operations and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. 
    • Implement established company policy and procedures, and develop and maintain compatible facility policies which are fairly and consistently applied with the company, state, and federal guidelines. 
    • Recruit, orient, and retain competent and professional staff. 
    • Oversee business functions of the facility, insuring proper management of admissions, ancillaries, payables, receivables, payroll, and related office or paperwork requirements. 
    • Market facility services to appropriate family and community services and identify staff members’ marketing responsibilities.
    • Build an effective team of departments to address and facilitate efficient day-to-day operating functions of the facility.
    • Initiate and maintain ongoing staff development programs on a timely basis. 
    • Establishes and maintains a favorable community/public relations position. Assures the implementation of therapeutic, recreational, and rehabilitative programs to meet the social and activity needs of residents.
    • Assures that the nutritional needs of residents are met.

     

    Requirements:

    • License from the applicable state agency.
    • Knowledge of Nursing Home regulations and standards and ability to manage all aspects of state and federal survey process.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
    • Excellent grasp of principles of budgeting, expense control, and revenue enhancement through marketing, special care programs and management of ancillary services.
    • Ability to perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined below.
    • Genuine care and interest in elderly and handicapped people.
    • Ability to comply with the Patient Bill of Rights and the Employee Responsibilities.
    • Ability to comply with Company and departmental safety policies and procedures.
