  • Job Summary

    Responsible for managing activities related to the analysis, planning, execution, control, and evaluation of fundraising and selected public relations programs. The director works with the President/CEO, Foundation Board of Directors, Development Committees and Auxiliary, for all fundraising activities designed to enhance and support the overall mission of St. Anthony. Programs are conducted in concert with the administration, board and employees. Also serves as the President's chief liaison with the St. Anthony Auxiliary, assisting them in their support role to the hospital in fundraising, community relations, and in service programs.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develops and coordinates fundraising activities for St. Anthony, including donor development, annual giving, planned giving campaigns and special events.
    • Develops and executes on strategies for donor/stakeholder relations and fundraising, communications, board relations, and financial management.
    • Establishes fundraising objectives for the organization, setting one year, five year, and longer-term goals.
    • Sets annual monetary goals and budgets according to short- and long-term goals.
    • Supervises and coordinates the St. Anthony Foundation office functions, including maintaining donor tracking records, correspondence, donor recognition, and volunteer management.
    • Develops public relations materials to enhance St. Anthony's community image and promotes fundraising programs.
    • Researches public and private grant agencies to identify other sources of funding.
    • Keeps abreast of current fundraising and public relations programs, practices, and procedures being used in the nonprofit sector.
    • Informs potential contributors of special needs, and encourages individuals, corporations, and foundations to establish or contribute to special funds through endowments, trusts, donations of gifts-in-kind, or bequests, conferring with attorneys to establish methods of transferring funds to benefit both donors and St. Anthony.
    • Identifies potential contributors of special projects through examination of past records, individual and corporate contracts, and knowledge of community.
    • Responsible for personal solicitation for hospital projects to members of staff, board members, volunteers, or other appropriate individuals.
    • Serves as staff liaison with St. Anthony Auxiliary.
    • Develops community public relations events so area residents are familiar with the healthcare services and programs available at St. Anthony Regional Hospital.
    • Attends all mandatory meetings and programs necessary for proper communication and coordinator of responsibilities.
    • Works willingly and accepts assignments as given.
    • Participates in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.
    • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
    • Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
    • Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.
    • Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
    • Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Education and/or Experience

    • Bachelor' degree in Organizational Leadership or other related field of study with three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Five years’ experience in fundraising for a nonprofit organization preferred.

    • Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.
    • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, patients, families and the general public.
