Job Summary
The primary purpose of the full time Nursing – Staff Instructor III is to provide academic and career counseling to enhance students’ academic success.
Job Duties:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Organizes and assists in the planning of the campus lab nursing student experience for all levels of the Nursing Department to include Nurse Aide, Practical Nursing, and Associate Degree Nursing Programs. The person in this position will teach nurse aide courses (depending on qualifications) and participate in testing nurse aide students for the Kentucky Medicaid Nurse Aide registry.
• Assist students in the practice of skills and help students who need remediation in skills.
• Assist in simulation lab with simulation coordinator as assigned.
• Work closely with the nursing faculty and director in planning classroom space and activities. Schedule classroom space to meet the needs of faculty and students working with other campus resource personnel. Schedule and accommodate student usage of computer programs, videos, and equipment.
• Assist with the organization and care of the lab space and equipment.
• Set up campus labs for faculty instruction and skills demonstration and keep the labs organized and ready for the next class.
• Maintain labs in a physically and environmentally safe and presentable manner, as well as adhere to all OSHA standards and college policies.
• Assist in the ordering and maintaining of current inventory of supplies and in completing equipment requests.
• Assist nursing director in budget and SNA preparation with needs of the labs.
• Work with the HCC Bookstore to plan and oversee the purchase of nurse packets for students.
• Teach at least one NAA 100 course per semester (depending on qualifications).
• Participate as a tester in the Kentucky Nurse Aide testing on HCC campus as needed.
• Attend nursing faculty meetings as available when not in student activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• RN with two (2) years of experience in the field. One (1) year of long-term care experience preferred.
• RN license to practice in Kentucky.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to work well with students, faculty, and external contacts.
• Knowledge of health care equipment, nursing computer technology, and current health care practices. Ability to lift and move equipment is essential.
• Excellent computer skills and ability to operate computerized simulation equipment utilized in simulation labs.
