We have 11 clinics located throughout the River Region, 2 mobile clinics, and 4 school-based clinics in partnership with Montgomery Public Schools.
HSI is looking for an Director of Nursing to join our team.
This position typically works a standard schedule of 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday, however, schedule adjustments may be necessary based on need.
Job Duties:
Administrative Duties and Patient Relations:
- Develops, establishes, and interprets procedures and protocols in accordance with established standards and policies, for the fulfillment of program(s) goals.
- Interprets and disseminates department policy and protocols to ensure uniform delivery of service and determines nursing program priorities.
- Helps develop, evaluate, and implement the quality and cost effectiveness of staffing utilization and makes recommendations, as necessary, to provide quality coverage for the provision of services rendered.
- Monitors quality of care and provision of clinical services through direct observation, site visits and medical audits.
- Supervises and fosters growth and development of management and leadership skills and communication and coordination of activities, among all nursing supervisory staff.
- Ensures departmental compliance with regulatory and JCAHO requirements.
- Verifies, and reports to the ABN, nursing employee licensure credentials, and assists all licensed nurses in maintaining current nursing licensure, as required by the state of Alabama.
- Participates in the recruitment and selection of nursing personnel staff recruitment, staff retention and staff development, in collaboration with the Human Resource Manager, unit coordinators, and Medical Director. .
- Updates and maintains job descriptions for each nursing position in accordance with medical center policy and procedures.
- Maintains expertise with computer-based programs, utilizing reports to improve clinical services and staffing performance.
- Communicates clearly, openly, and honestly in verbal and written formats.
- Works with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services, for improved patient care.
- Maintains liaison with schools for the development of curricula and appropriate clinical practice for students in the health care field, including: Trenholm Technical College Medical Assisting Advisory, Trenholm LPN Advisory Committee, and Advisory Board of the School of Nursing at Troy State University.
- Participates as a member of the management team, correlating nursing with the other disciplines.
- Is a member of Environment of Care Committee, helping oversee safety to all employees and patients.
- Initiates and participates in studies /research activities in the evaluation/development of services.
- Collects statistical data, prepares and reviews comprehensive reports regarding meeting service/program goals.
- Assists Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer with any special projects or other duties, as needed.
- Assures that nursing staff performs only duties allowed under the scope of their license and job description.
Safety/Infection Control Activities:
- Supports, helps plan, coordinate, and enforce infection-control policies and procedures.
- Ensures an appropriate environment for the administration of healthcare by overseeing the keeping of all medical equipment and areas in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion.
Education and Experience:
- RN who has graduated from an accredited School of Nursing program.
- Possession of a current, unrestricted, Alabama nursing license, preferably a BSN, or related 4-year degree.
- BCLS certification.
- 3-5 years clinical experience, including 2-3 years supervisory experience.
