ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Schedules appointments with physicians or outside agencies and completes necessary paperwork to accompany residents.
2. Schedules lab test including in-house X-rays and makes out appropriate lab slips.
3. Faxes communication to physicians as directed by charge nurse.
4. Maintains physician rounds book and generates physician compliance calendar.
5. Stocks and maintains medical supplies in medication room nurses conference room and monitors for neatness and overstocking.
6. Maintains consultant records for residents and schedules consulting physicians visit in cooperation with charge nurses.
7. Answers telephone, relays message and relieves receptionist for break/lunch.
8. Prepares for new admissions by following admission checklist. Completes necessary clerical duties related to admission and discharge of residents.
9. Organizes discharges charts and ensures they are complete; files medication and treatment kardexes; keeps all charts in order and thinned as appropriate.
10. Assists in developing procedures to ensure records are properly completed, signed, indexed, etc. before filing.
11. Performs misc. duties pertaining to medical records and assists business office personnel as required/directed.
12. Completes assigned duties on nursing units as directed by Charge Nurses.
13. Performs other related duties and attends meetings as may be deemed necessary by Supervisor / Administrator and or Director.
