Qualifications:

• Work experience as a medical unit secretary, business secretary or education/certification as such is desirable.  A candidate without this experience or training possessing other valuable attributes may be chosen.
• Able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing. Demonstrate good customer service skills and pleasant phone techniques.

PRIMARY CLERICAL DUTIES:

• Answer phone and assist customers
• Perform Insurance verification processes as dictated by insurance programs/standards
• Maintain Insurance documentation regarding prior-authorizations, authorizations, and re-authorizations as required
• Collect payment for services as necessary based on hospital and department policy/process
• Schedule initial evaluations for all disciplines
• Schedule appointments for all disciplines
• Communication with physician offices
• Maintain Supply Inventory and order supplies as necessary
• Chart Handling/Storage
• Oversee flow of documents from opening to electronic storage
• Compilation of data for Performance Improvement projects
• Other duties as assigned
