Summary :
The Medical Assistant (MA) will process ambulatory patients efficiently for initial injuries and illnesses, physical exams, testing and follow-up visits. This role will assist members of the clinical team in providing quality patient care. The MA will provide coverage of both the Middletown and Essex offices in order to maintain competencies and skills required in each location.
Responsibilities:
Brings patients to exam rooms, verifies a patient's date of birth and prepares the patient for exam by provider.
Performs full vitals, audiometry, spirometry, vision testing, lab specimen collection, drug testing, breath alcohol testing, according to protocol, in a timely and accurate manner.
Registers patients, obtains and enters patient demographic and job history information accurately into Systoc for registration, data entry, billing and tracking purposes.
Performs QA daily on equipment and logs results.
Maintains appropriate levels of supplies within exam rooms and regularly checks supply and medication expiration dates.
Works occasional off hours to assist the provider/department in performing onsite Fire Department exams, laboratory blood draws, influenza clinics or any other testing requested by client companies.
Completes all department specific competencies, maintains certification and licenses commensurate to position, and is compliant with health system training requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Medical Assistant certification
Customer service experience
Proficient in computer software
Preferred Skills:
2 years of outpatient clinical experience, preferably in an Occupational Medicine office
Phlebotomy experience
EKG experience
DOT-certified urine drug screening collector
DOT-certified Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT)
Systoc electronic health record experience
